Additional Volunteer Guidelines for Horse Leaders

July 24, 2020

-Tack room doors will be opened prior to volunteer arrival and will remain open until the end of the day.

-When more than one horse leader is grooming at a time, the schedule for the day will include a location assignment (stall or crosstie number) for each horse and class.

-Grooming totes are hanging on metal hooks at cross-tie locations for use. Grooming tools will be disinfected at the end of every day; sanitizing spray will be available if you would like to additionally disinfect tools prior to use. Fly spray, wound care items, etc will be available in the hanging bag at the back of the barn to avoid unnecessary trips into the barn.

-Towels will be left out in the washrack by the morning feeder. Used towels will be placed in the laundry basket in the Sanitation Station and then washed at the end of the day by the closing staff. Bathing tools will be disinfected at the end of the day.

-Used tack, halters, leadropes, etc will be put in the Sanitation Station to be cleaned after use. Saddlepads will go into the laundry basket in the Sanitation Station.

-Mucking and cleaning tools identified with the color orange will be available outside of the Sanitation Station and at the arena. Touchpoints on these will be disinfected at the close of each day.

-A face mask is required at any time when 6’ distancing cannot be maintained.

-Feed room is off limits; please feed horses only if requested by a feeder so as to minimize contamination.
