WHAT: 5K Run and Community Walk
SPONSORED BY: Volunteer Center of Durham in support of Triangle nonprofit organizations
WHEN: Saturday, March 27, 2010, 9:00 a.m.
WHERE: Durham Bull's Athletic Park

This is an opportunity for you to help support the North Carolina Therapeutic Riding Center. If you are like most of us, you hate asking your friends and family for sponsorships but the Volunteer Center is partnering with Active.com again this year for online giving. You can just send out an email message, and follow up again by email if you haven't heard from them!

HOW: We will help you! There are three ways to participate:

1. Get a collection envelope from Tracy Jenkins or Margie Muenzer and ask your friends, neighbors and co-workers for donations. Turn in your envelope to NCTRC prior to the event. This is the best way for those who don't like to use emails.

2. Visit www.active.com/donate/ghr2010/NCTRCRiders, and use the easy template to send emails to your friends with a link to this page. Or place this link in your Facebook page. This is a less personal way to participate but it is the easiest!

3. Make your own team member web page with a story about what NCTRC means to you, and establish your own fundraising goal ($50, $100, or maybe $500). Active.com makes this easy to do by having you follow the links from NCTRC's Team page. We can walk you through the steps, provide stories, pictures and other information to get your started. Then you use the template to send out emails with a link to your fundraising page. This approach is ideal, since sharing pictures and stories about your involvement with NCTRC will be the most effective way to get sponsorships. To see an example, visit www.active.com/donate/ghr2010/NCTRCMargie.
